Teens (and tweens) represent the highest proportion of people we currently see in our practice. We’ve supported many teens over the years to overcome apprehensions about school including transitioning to high school, friendship challenges (what good friendships look like and how to maintain them), and building self-esteem.  We also help with school and sports performance, parent, sibling and social conflict, withdrawn behaviour, social anxiety, adjustment or change challenges, and compulsive behaviours such as gaming.

How we help

Balanced support for teens and their families.

Rapport building and respect for increasing independence and maturity is key to successful sessions with teens. Providing your teen with a neutral sounding board through conversations with their psychologist can be of help in supporting their growing sense of identity and independence, in a safe and supportive way. Sustaining success is always key, and the involvement of parents in session, separately or a combination of both helps enormously with this.

We offer sessions both in person at our South Perth practice and also by telehealth, with many teens chatting with us by telehealth from school.
